Wanted: Frontend and backend developers in San Francisco

Jul 08 2011 - Melvin

If you work with us, you'll always get the girl!!

Location

San Francisco – SOMA

Job description for everyone

Your job is to make our service work and look as simple as possible. This sounds easy, but it’s a lot more difficult in practice. To work with us, you have to be a little like Steve Jobs. We don’t want our users to think for even one second about what they should do at any given time, and to support that vision, you need to be able to use the latest and newest web technologies you can find out there to reach that goal. Usually you’ll be implementing technologies you haven’t used or even seen before because it’s so new. You need to be the type of guy (or girl) who is able to set the highest standard for yourself and if you’re the one who can’t sleep at night because you just got a great idea that you can’t wait to work on then we’re looking for you!

Wanted: Front End JS developers

What you’ll do as a front-end JS developer:

- Using advanced JS frameworks to create stunning and user friendly interfaces.
- Using every CSS trick that’s out there to present information as simple yet powerful as possible. Less is more. KISS.
- Using PHP templates to connect complex back end technologies with your simple front end view.
- Scream and cry tears of joy when you hear: CSS mediaqueries, touch events and everything else that helps being able to serve our website on multiple platforms and media.

Wanted: Back End PHP developers

What you’ll do as a back-end PHP developer:

- Using advanced PHP frameworks to create an abstracted infrastructure that is written in a modulair and easy maintainable way.
- Develop and extend our internal API for every function of our platform.
- Develop our external API and support our developer community.
- Get excited again about databases when you hear terms like ‘NoSQL’ and ‘ORM’.
- Work with a lot of different and interesting APIs. If someone else can do it better than we do, then don’t reinvent the wheel.

Check out our new office in San Francisco!

Jul 05 2011 - Melvin

Things have been quiet lately, but for a good reason! The last month we’ve been busy with moving half of the team from Holland to San Francisco and finding some office space for our new US headquarters.

We’re located at the RocketSpace building, which is a co-working office environment exclusively for tech companies. The reason why we’ve chosen a co-working environment and not a private office (for now) is that the US team is very small at the moment but will be growing rapidly soon. RocketSpace allows us to be very flexible in our office needs and we are able to add new desks with every new member of our team (currently 2 desks and counting!). Continue Reading »
